It’s the time of year when the skill of that creature hunched over in the corner, aka the DJ, is readily apparent. But for them it’s not only about selecting the right tune — it’s also about carefully negotiating the ever-changing DJ landscape.

When I began as a DJ, the challenge was winding up the gramophone whilst trying to find just the right shellac 78 to drop in the mix but then all changed to vinyl. Initially, we had only on one record deck.
